Finishing Up The Mix

It's coming to the end of the mixing stage, therefore I have to make some final checks and touchups to Li Ping's song before having it ready for the mastering stage. I organised the project once more by creating tracks stacks to make it look more neat and tidy.

Tweaks:

After listening to the song from different speakers and headphones, I noticed that the bass is a bit soft, so I turned it up a tad bit.

After meeting with my lecturer to get his opinion, I've changed the lead vocal's compressor into the Vintage Opto and added some soft distortion to it which gives it that nice saturation.

These are essentially the biggest changes that I've made. There are other changes such as automation, slight volume adjustments and reducing the drums' volume.

Checking Overall Volume and Phase Issues:

I brought up the multimeter to check if the volume levels are about right in the analyser and that there aren't any phase issues based on the goniometer.

Based on the goniometer, I do not have any serious phase issues as the meter is nicely around the centre, not spreading left and right rapidly.

After that, I brought up the Level Meter to check for overall volume levels to ensure that I'm not clipping and provide some headroom for the mastering engineer to work with.

The Track:

That's all from me today. Below is a link to Li Ping's song after mixing. I felt as if I could do more, and that I could do better. But I would not be able to do it without the help of my lecturer as well as online sources. The vocals were the toughest to work on as this is a hard song to sing. Nevertheless, I thank you for your time and your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
