The Basic Construction Of My Song On Logic Pro X

Before proceeding with this blog, I suggest you go back to my previous blog to take a listen to my song as for this blog it's time to get technical!

Getting Started:

I begin my construction by adding at least 5 new tracks to the project.

After adding the tracks, I brought out the Library and Channel Strip which can be done easily by pressing 'Y' on the keyboard for the Library and 'I' for the Channel Strip. Or I could just locate the symbols at the top left of the window.

From there I can test and choose the instruments that I want and Logic Pro X has such a wide variety of options. Please excuse the extra fingerstyle bass.

Also, I can adjust the tone of the instruments by clicking the Smart Control symbol on the top left or by pressing 'B' on the keyboard.

Drum Presets:

For the drums I chose a preset that is already in the software. I begin by selecting a drummer  (Jesse- Funk Rock) followed by a beat preset (Broken Glass). I also made some slight adjustments to the complexity and volume of the drums.

Begin Recording:

Before recording, I made sure I chose a suitable tempo for the song by adjusting it at the top of the window right next to the cycle symbol.

I decided to record the bass line first. So I started recording by pressing 'R' on the keyboard and played the bass line according to the count.

Every time after recording, I would always cycle the particular segment by highlighting the bars. The highlighted bars would be in yellow.

If I didn't like that particular recording, I would simply select that particular region, delete it and try again. Whenever I want to repeat a particular track, instead of recording again I just copy the region and paste it where I see fit. The construction of the entire song is basically a process of recording, cycling through the recorded tracks, and copy and pasting the recorded tracks.

  1. Well done. This is the type of detail I'm looking for and well supported with graphics. Try including short audio clips, too.
